And I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father,  keep them in your name, which you have given me, that they may be one, even as we are one. While I was with them, I kept them in your name, which you have given me. I have guarded them, and not one of them has been lost except the son of destruction, that the Scripture might be fulfilled. But now I am coming to you, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy fulfilled in themselves. I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. (John 17:11-18)

The Son of God commanded his disciples in John 17 to be “in the world but not of the world.”  Benjadah-BerlinTherefore, we believe that we have the right, by His command, to be “in the world and not of the world”. That would be religious freedom that you can practice your faith in a secular world. Currently, Germany, in the case of the Twelve Tribes, decide if we receive our basic rights and actually if all its citizens are granted this freedom of religion.

For this purpose God made the boundaries of the various peoples—that within their national borders—they would have the opportunity to live according to their conscience and to serve God according to what they believe:

AsianGuestsOurChildrenAnd he made from one man every nation of
mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, that they should seek God, in the hope that they might feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us. (Acts 17:26-27)

For this very reason, that men could grope for God, the Basic Law requires Germany be a free country:

“The enjoyment of civil and political rights, eligibility for public office, and rights acquired in the public service are independent of religious denomination. No one from his membership or non-membership of a confession or a conviction prejudicial to the person.” Article 33 (3) of the Basic Law.

This means that:

The State must not favor any religion or community has to assess the specific ideology or an organization to be true.

{Professor Gerhard Robbers, Law and Religion in Germany (2013), Part II, Chapter 1, “Individual Religious Freedom, C. Parental Care, Section 137”.}

Therefore, the state must be neutral in matters of faith and religious. It is obvious that this is not the case in the case of the authorities and the Twelve Tribes.

Why else were 23 families collectively deprived of the custody of their children simply because they were living in Klosterzimmern or Wörnitz?

Normally court and Jugendamt would have to deal with each individual family, but because these families are part of the faith community of the Twelve Tribes, they were all tarred with the same brush.

We are discriminated against and persecuted because of our membership of a religious minority, and all because we want to raise our children in the ways of God and by his true word. How else will the prophecy of Isaiah be fulfilled?

And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord, and the peace of thy children shall be great. (Isaiah 54:13)

CelebrationWithSongThis is certainly not happening in the public schools instead! (Not with our children, and not with yours, either!) Therefore, we must also be given the right to take a different education path than the state that the children can “be taught of the Lord”.

But in the following verses in Isaiah is equally clear that the path to freedom is not always easy:

If anyone stirs up strife, it is not from me; whoever stirs up strife with you shall fall because of you. Behold, I have created the smith who blows the fire of coals and produces a weapon for its purpose. I have also created the ravager to destroy; no weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall confute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their vindication from me, declares the Lord. (Isaiah 54:15-17)
