EBNK06We too have no need to embrace the corrupt culture of the world, just like the early church didn’t. See “Are we a Cult?” for more on this.

EBNK07Lacking their own culture, Christians have no choice but to embrace the world’s. But obeying God’s commands requires a common life together.

EBNK08We love our children, as anyone with eyes to see can tell. And they love us, always desiring in their hearts to be with us. The older ones with the ability have all run away at every opportunity from foster care.

EBNK09Only a people’s supreme love for our Father and for one another will ever fulfill all that is written in the Law and the Prophets, just as Matthew 22:37-40 says.

And he said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.’

EBNK10That is what God’s people always create, a place to belong, where Psalm 68:5-6 can be fulfilled.

Father of the fatherless and protector of widows is God in his holy habitation. God settles the solitary in a home; he leads out the prisoners to prosperity, but the rebellious dwell in a parched land.
